Giannis Antetokounmpo played 36 minutes in Monday’s 111-107 win over the Knicks, scoring 22 points (6-of-15 FGs, 9-of-12 FTs) with 10 rebounds, five assists, two blocks, and one 3-pointer. After laying an egg in Friday’s blowout loss to the Hornets, Antetokounmpo recorded his 24th double-double of the season Monday night. He’s scored 20 points or more in nine of his last 10 games, a run that includes a three-game stretch of 43 or more. Giannis remains ranked outside the top 100 in 9-cat formats, with the free-throw shooting and turnovers being the biggest issues, but he’s closing in on the top 50 in 8-cat (punting turnovers). Milwaukee plays three more games this week, with Wednesday’s matchup in Atlanta being the first of a back-to-back (at Miami Thursday night). Giannis played in both ends of Milwaukee’s most recent back-to-back; hopefully, that will be the case this week as well (he sat out the back end of the December 2-3 B2B).
Atlanta Hawks DFS Spin
Trae Young finished Sunday’s 112-108 win over the Clippers with 30 points (9-of-17 FGs, 9-of-9 FTs), two rebounds, eight assists, one steal, and three 3-pointers in 35 minutes. Young has scored 30 points or more in 15 games this season, including three of his last four. His two free throws with just over five seconds remaining sealed the outcome for the Hawks, who split their four games in California. While he’s still ranked outside the top 50 in 9-cat value for the season, Ice Trae performed above that level throughout the Hawks’ road trip. The inefficiency weighs down Young’s fantasy value in 9-cat, as he entered Sunday shooting 41.9% from the field and averaging nearly four turnovers per game. If he can make strides in those categories, look out. Atlanta plays three games in Week 13, beginning Wednesday night against the Bucks.
