Boston surprised the world with a 111-108 win at Cleveland in Game 3 to cut into the series lead, 2-1. The road team has now won and covered in all three games in this series. Boston is now 62-36 overall, 27-21 on the road and 50-46-2 against the spread. Cleveland is 61-32 overall, 35-11 at home and 43-46-4 against the spread.
The Celtics were able to get the win despite being without Isaiah Thomas. Boston fell behind big early, but rallied in the third quarter. Avery Bradley eventually hit the game-winning 3-pointer in the closing seconds of the game. He finished with 20 points while Marcus Smart had a big game of 27 points and seven assists. LeBron James had just 11 points, six rebounds and six assists in the loss. Kyrie Irving was the leading scorer with 29 points and seven assists.
Cleveland took its foot off the gas in Game 3. It led to a bad loss, but could spark a fire that they need heading into the NBA Finals. Cleveland had been coasting in these playoffs and this loss could give them their edge back. They won’t take Boston lightly today and LeBron should have a monster game after coming out flat on Sunday. Cleveland still had a massive lead in Game 3, so they can clearly cover this spread as long as they keep their killer instinct.
