Cavs deal Waiters for Smith & Shumpert, Cleveland 6/1 to win NBA Finals

Cavs land J.R. Smith in trade

CLEVELAND, OH (TheSpread) – The Cleveland Cavaliers made a trade on Monday to try and improve their roster, striking a deal with the New York Knicks and the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The Cavs sent Dion Waiters to the Thunder while the Cavs got J.R. Smith and Iman Shumpert went from the Knicks to the Cavs. The Knicks got three players with nonguaranteed contracts to help their rebuilding effort next season. The Cavs are also getting a protected first-round pick in the 2015 NBA Draft. The Cavs get the pick if it falls outside the top 18.

According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the Cavs currently have 6/1 odds to win the NBA Finals this year. They were favored all season, but the Bulls and the Warriors are the current favorites with 5/1 odds. The Thunder currently have 8/1 odds while the Knicks have 1,000/1 odds.

Smith is a shooting guard and he is averaging 10.9 points and 3.4 assists per game this season for the Knicks. Shumpert is another shooting guard that is averaging 9.3 points and 3.3 assists per game. The Thunder are getting a shooting guard in Waiters, who is averaging 10.5 points per game this season.
