Hornets snap skid
The Hornets put an end to their three-game losing streak on Friday when they earned a 113-107 win over the Nuggets at home. Charlotte is 12-13 on the season, 3-8 on the road, 15-10 against the spread and 13-12 with the over.
Charlotte is not a great defensive team, but about average. The Hornets are giving up 111 points per game as opponents shoot 45.9 percent from the field. On offense, Charlotte is putting up 114 points per game while shooting just 45.6 percent from the floor. Kemba Walker is having a strong year, averaging 25.8 points, 6.2 assists and 4.3 rebounds per game. Jeremy Lamb is adding 15 points and 5.6 rebounds per contest.
Knicks drop another
The Knicks lost their third straight last night in a 112-104 loss at home to the Nets. They have dropped five of their last six and are about to play their third game in four nights. New York is just 8-19 on the season, 4-8 at home, 13-13-1 against the spread and 15-12 with the over.
New York has really struggled on defense this season, allowing 114.8 points per game while opponents shoot 47.6 percent from the field and 37 percent from the arc. On offense, New York is putting up just 108.4 points per game while shooting only 43.7 percent from the field. Kristaps Porzingis won’t be making his season debut until February and the team has Trey Burke listed as questionable for today with a knee injury. Tim Hardaway Jr. is leading the way for the Knicks with 21.5 points per game while Enes Kanter is adding 15.2 points and 11.8 rebounds per contest.
NBA Betting Trends
Charlotte
The Hornets are 4-1 against the spread in their last five conference games, but just 1-4 ATS in their last five Sunday games.
New York
The Knicks are just 2-9 ATS in their last 11 Sunday games and 1-5 ATS in their last six against Southeast opponents.
Prediction:
The Hornets and Knicks haven’t met this season, but the Knicks are just a mess right now. They can’t find much to build on given they haven’t had their best player all season and won’t for some time yet. The Knicks are relying on mostly unproven talent to try and win games. Charlotte has a legit star in Walker and the Hornets get a lot of value out of their role players. While they have lost their last four on the road, I expect the Hornets to cruise tonight. New York is just too short-handed to compete with most NBA teams and they will be tired, playing their third game in four nights.
NBA Prediction: Charlotte Hornets -6
