Bulls lose 10th straight
Chicago dropped its 10th straight game on Saturday, 117-103 at home to Miami. The Bulls are just 1-5-1 against the spread in their last seven. The Bulls are 10-36 overall, 5-18 on the road, 20-25-1 against the spread and 26-19-1 with the under.
The Bulls have the second-worst offense in the NBA, scoring just 101 points per game while shooting only 44.3 percent from the field. Defensively, Chicago is giving up 111.6 points per game while opponents shoot 46.7 percent against them. Wendell Carter Jr. is listed as questionable with his thumb injury but reports have him undergoing surgery this week which would put him on the shelf for months. Zach LaVine has been leading the team with 22.8 points, 4.3 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game while Lauri Markkanen is adding 17.1 points and 7.1 rebounds per contest.
Cavs back on a skid
Cleveland is coming off a 124-102 loss at Denver on Saturday. The Cavs have lost three straight and went 1-5 in their 6-game road trip out West. Cleveland is now 9-38 overall, 5-17 at home, 20-26-1 against the spread and 24-22-1 with the over.
The Cavs are not surprisingly pretty bad on offense as well, averaging 102.8 points per game while shooting just 44.4 percent. Defensively, the Cavs give up 113.9 points per game and a league-worst 49.4 percent shooting. The Cavs have a lot of injuries with Kevin Love, Larry Nance and Tristan Thompson all dealing with long-term injuries. Thompson just returned be re-aggravated his foot injury. Jordan Clarkson has been leading the team this season with 16.9 points per game while Collin Sexton is adding 14.5 points per contest.
NBA Betting Trends
Chicago
The Bulls have covered the spread in four of their last five conference games, but are 1-5-1 ATS in their last seven following a loss.
Cleveland
The Cavs are 5-11 against the spread in their last 16 division games and 2-6-1 ATS in their last nine following a loss.
Prediction:
Neither team will inspire much confidence today, but I like the Bulls in this one. Despite the long losing streak, Chicago has the better talent in my opinion. Cleveland is really banged up and lacking in a lot of playmakers, especially in the frontcourt. Chicago already owns two wins over the Cavs this season, including a 20-point win in Cleveland on Dec. 23.
NBA Prediction: Chicago Bulls -2
