Clippers fined for Jordan negotiations
LOS ANGELES, CA (The Spread) – The NBA is fining the Clippers for committing a violation in the DeAndre Jordan contract negotiations.
The NBA announced Tuesday that the Clippers will be fined $250,000 for “violating NBA rules prohibiting teams from offering players unauthorized business or investment opportunities.”
Jordan had verbally committed to signing with the Dallas Mavericks only to go back on his word and re-sign with the Clippers. A release from the league said that L.A.’s presentation to Jordan on July 2 “included a potential third-party endorsement opportunity for the player,” which is a violation.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Clippers are currently +950 to win the 2016 NBA Championship.
