Fireworks galore for Rockets, Clippers?
The Rockets still have a long way to go to secure a Western Conference playoff spot, but their recent offensive surge provides ample room for optimism entering tonight’s tussle with the Clippers.
According to oddsmakers at online sports book BetDSI, Houston (34-33) represents a 3.5-point favorite to defeat Los Angeles for a fifth straight home meeting. The Clips’ last win at Toyota Arena occurred several years ago.
J.B. Bickerstaff’s bunch is accustomed to winning, period, this month. The Rockets are averaging a whopping 114.4 points over their last five games. Monday’s 130-81 annihilation of Memphis alone featured 16 long-distance bombs and nine players in double figures.

Contrast that excellence with the Clippers’ ongoing rough stretch. Los Angeles followed disappointing results vs. Atlanta, Oklahoma City and Cleveland with a 108-87 loss to the Spurs last night. The second unit simply failed to show up, further compromising an attack that already misses Blake Griffin and Paul Pierce.
Something usually clicks on offense, though, when Doc Rivers’ team arrives in H-Town. The Clips amassed 140 points in an overtime triumph against James Harden and company on Jan. 18. Look for Los Angeles’ attack to produce a similar total in a few hours.
