Nuggets trying to get back on track

Denver is coming off a 116-100 loss at home to Golden State on Tuesday. The Nuggets have lost four of their last seven while going 2-5 against the spread. Denver is now 41-20 on the season, 17-12 on the road, 28-29-4 against the spread and 31-29-1 with the under.

The Nuggets are putting up 110.7 points per game on offense this season, while shooting 47 percent from the field. Defensively, Denver is giving up 107.5 points per game while opponents shoot 45.8 percent against them. Nikola Jokic has been leading the Nuggets this season with 20.8 points, 10.2 rebounds and 6.8 assists per game. Jamal Murray is adding 18.7 points and 4.7 assists per contest.

Hornets on a cover streak

Charlotte is coming off a 104-103 loss at home to the Spurs on Tuesday for a second straight loss. However, the Hornets have covered the spread in four straight games. Charlotte is now 21-40 on the season, 9-20 at home, 31-30 against the spread and 33-28 with the under.

The Hornets have the league’s worst offense, averaging just 102 points per game while shooting only 43.1 percent from the field. Defensively, the Hornets are giving up 109.4 points per game while opponents shoot 47.4 percent from the floor. Charlotte is without Malik Monk due to a suspension, and Devonte’ Graham is questionable to play tonight due to an ankle injury. Graham leads the team with 17.6 points and 7.5 assists per game. Terry Rozier is adding 17.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.1 assists per contest.

NBA Betting Trends

Denver

The Nuggets are 5-1 against the spread in their last six Thursday games and 9-3 ATS in their last 12 games following a failed cover.

Charlotte

The Hornets are 5-1 against the spread in their last six games playing on 1 day of rest. They are 6-14 ATS in their last 20 games against a winning team.

Prediction:

The Nuggets won the first meeting with the Hornets back in January, 100-86. But, that was in Denver. The Hornets have been competitive as of late, even without Graham on Tuesday against the Spurs in a 1-point loss. The Nuggets haven’t been terribly reliable as of late, losing at home to the Warriors and losing by nearly 30 on the road against the Clippers. However, Denver has been able to bounce back from its poor showing with sizable wins. The Nuggets have a defense that can lock up the Hornets, especially if Graham is unable to go. Offensively, Denver has a lot of depth and can spread the ball around to get past Charlotte.

NBA Prediction: Denver Nuggets -8
