Pistons beat up
Detroit is dealing with a lot of injuries right now and it has led to the Pistons losing four of their last five games. They are coming off a 106-99 loss at the Lakers, but did cover for a second straight contest. The Pistons are 14-23 on the season, 5-14 on the road, 14-22-1 against the spread and 21-16 with the over.
The Pistons are putting up just 108.2 points per game this season while shooting 46.3 percent as a team. Defensively, Detroit is allowing 111.0 points per game while opponents shoot 47.3 percent against them. The Pistons are without the likes of Blake Griffin, Luke Kennard, Reggie Jackson and Markieff Morris tonight due to injury. Andre Drummond is leading the team with 17.4 points and 15.9 rebounds per game while Derrick Rose is adding 17.3 points and 5.7 assists per contest.
Cavs falling apart
Cleveland has lost and failed to cover in four straight games coming into tonight and there appears to be a lot of team turmoil involving players and new coach John Beilein. The Cavs are 10-26 on the season, 6-13 at home, 14-21-1 against the spread and 18-18 with the over/under total.
The Cavs are putting up only 104.4 points per game on offense this year while shooting 44.7 percent from the floor. Defensively, the Cavs are giving up 113.6 points per game while opponents shoot 48.5 percent against them. Collin Sexton is leading the Cavs with 18.5 points per game while Kevin Love is adding 16.4 points and 10.3 rebounds per contest. Love has been very vocal in his displeasure being on the team right now and has shown it at times with a lack of effort.
NBA Betting Trends
Detroit
The Pistons are 4-1 against the spread in their last five games as a favorite, but 5-12-1 ATS in their last 18 road games.
Cleveland
The Cavs are 5-11-1 against the spread in their last 17 home games and 19-40-3 ATS in their last 62 games playing on 1 day of rest.
Prediction:
The Pistons dominated the Cavs in Cleveland back on Dec. 3, 127-94. Both teams don’t seem to be in a mode to want to really win games, but I think the Pistons can handle being a favorite. Detroit still has some playmakers to rely on in Drummond and Rose. Cleveland really doesn’t have any. Love could be one, but he seems more interested in getting traded away. Drummond is someone that can rebound with the likes of Love and Tristan Thompson, taking away one of the few strengths Cleveland has.
NBA Prediction: Detroit Pistons -3.5
