Pistons getting thrashed
The Pistons are coming off a 121-98 loss at Milwaukee last night for their third straight defeat and fifth loss in six games. They have failed to cover in all three games as well. Detroit is 16-19 overall, 5-11 on the road, 16-18-1 against the spread and 18-17 with the under.
Detroit is struggling on offense, scoring just 107.4 points per game while shooting only 43.2 percent from the floor and 32.5 percent from the arc. Defensively, Detroit is giving up 109.9 points per game. Backup center Zaza Pachulia is doubtful tonight with a leg injury while guard Stanley Johnson is questionable with an undisclosed injury. Blake Griffin is leading the team with 24.8 points, 8.7 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game while Andre Drummond adds 17.3 points and 15.0 rebounds per contest.
Grizzlies struggling again
Memphis is coming off a 113-101 loss at Houston for its second straight loss. The Grizzlies have lost and failed to cover in seven of their last nine games. Memphis is 18-18 on the season, 10-7 at home, 17-19 against the spread and 21-15 with the under.
The Grizzlies are struggling on offense as well, as they put up just 101.8 points per game. They also rank 30th in the NBA in rebounding, averaging just 39.4 per game. Defensively, Memphis is giving up only 102.3 points per game while holding opponents to just 44.4 percent shooting. NBA Betting Trends
Detroit
The Pistons are 0-4 against the spread in their last four road games and 2-7 ATS in their last nine games following a failed cover.
Memphis
Memphis is 5-2 against the spread in their last seven Wednesday games but just 2-6 ATS in their last eight against the Central Division.
Prediction:
The Pistons seem like they should be able to challenge Memphis, but I just can’t trust the Pistons. They played last night in Milwaukee and lost by more than 20 points for the second time in three games. They also don’t shoot well and are facing a defensive team that will make it even harder to get open looks. Detroit doesn’t have the defense to really capitalize on Memphis’ poor offense.
NBA Prediction: Memphis Grizzlies -6
