Will the Thunder slow down the red-hot Knicks tonight in OKC? Will Minnesota cover against VA Tech in one of the last remaining bowl games of the college football season? Read on for our Friday Cross-Sport Parlay.
New Year’s Day Cross-Sport Parlay
For my New Year’s Day Cross-Sport Parlay, I had the Kings (-111) over the Devils, the Rockets (-5.5) over the Mavericks and Georgia to beat Notre Dame. While the Kings shutout the Devils 3-0 and the Rockets covered in a 111-99 blowout of the Mavs, the Georgia-Notre Dame didn’t play that night because of the tragic events in New Orleans. Thus, most sports books would have cancelled that leg of the parlay, which is good since the Bulldogs were sh*t stomped by the Irish the following day.
CFB Friday Cross-Sport Parlay: Minnesota Golden Gophers -8.5 (-115), 7:30 p.m. ET
The Golden Gophers were one of the strongest spread teams in college football this season, posting a 9-2-1 ATS record on the year. This is one of the few teams that gave Penn State issues during the regular season. That same Penn State team is now in the semi-finals of the college football playoff after blowing out SMU and Boise State. As an 11.5-point home dog, the Golden Gophers nearly beat the Nittany Lions outright.
The Hokies, meanwhile, beat Virginia 37-17 as a 5-point favorite to close out their regular season. That said, VA Tech had lost its three previous games entering that matchup with UVA. The Hokies’ biggest wins this season came against Georgia Tech, Boston College and the aforementioned Virginia. Not exactly a Murder’s Row of opponents. Not to mention, VA Tech is dealing with a slew of opt-outs ahead of tonight’s game.
NHL Friday Cross-Sport Parlay: Ottawa Senators -110, 8:10 p.m. ET
The Blues and Senators met towards the end of October in Ottawa. The Senators handed the Blues an absolute beating in that game. Ottawa opened up the scoring with three first period goals. They then added three more goals in the second period before adding a pair of tallies in the third period. The Blues finished third that night.
The Senators have dropped three out of their last four games entering play tonight but they’re also 7-3 in their last 10 games overall. The Blues, meanwhile, are incredibly inconsistent and have been virtually all season. They have won three out of their last four games overall, but aren’t too far removed from dropping three straight from December 17 through December 20. Following their big win at Wrigley Field on New Year’s Eve, I’ll gladly fade St. Louis.
NBA Friday Cross-Sport Parlay: Oklahoma City Thunder -5 (-108), 8:10 p.m. ET
The Thunder have owned the Knicks both straight up and at the window. In the previous 10 meetings between these two teams, Oklahoma City is 8-2 straight up versus New York. Over that same span, the Thunder are 7-3 against the number versus the Knicks.
OKC is also red-hot overall. The Thunder have won eight straight games and are 9-1 in their last 10 contests overall. They’re also 7-2-1 against the number in their last 10 games, covering in three consecutive matchups and in six of their last seven overall.
Of course, the Knicks are even hotter. They’ve won nine straight overall and are 7-3 at the window. Still, with their struggles with the Thunder in previous meetings, I’ll lay the points with the home favorite tonight.
CBB Friday Cross-Sport Parlay: Iowa-Wisconsin over 162.5 (-110), 7:00 p.m. ET
Big Ten rivals square off in Madison, WI tonight when Wisconsin hosts Iowa at 7:00 p.m. ET. Both teams have strong over records this season, as the Hawkeyes are 8-5 to the over and the Badgers are 10-3 to the over. The Hawkeyes have cashed the over in six out of their last seven games entering play tonight, while the Badgers cashed the over in three out of their last four contests. In the last five meetings between these rivals, the over is 4-1.
