Hawks laying too many points in L.A.?
The Hawks are a heavy favorite tonight in Los Angeles and should beat the Lakers when the two teams tip-off at 10:30PM ET. But will Atlanta cover?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Hawks are a 9-point favorite over the Lakers for tonight’s game, while the total is sitting at 208 points. Atlanta opened as an 8-point favorite at some sports books but oddsmakers quickly adjusted the line, bumping it up a full point. The total, meanwhile, was bumped down from 209 to 208.

The Hawks have covered the spread in three straight games but they were 0-3 against the number before this streak, so they also continue to be highly inconsistent. This is Jeff Teague’s team but he was benched down the stretch of Tuesday’s overtime loss to the Warriors after committing a couple of turnovers. He didn’t see the floor in the fourth quarter or in overtime as he was replaced by Dennis Schroder, who has seen time before due to Mike Budenholzer’s benching of Teague.
Despite Atlanta’s recent success at the betting window, the Hawks are too streaky for bettors to hand over 9 points on the road, even versus the Lakers. In fact, the Hawks have failed to cover the spread in their last five road games against the Lakers, who are 6-1 against the spread in their last seven games following an ATS loss. With the home team cashing in five of the last six meetings between these two teams, Los Angeles is the team providing the value in this game.
