Hawks vs. Spurs Prediction
The San Antonio Spurs are nearly double-digit home favorites tonight against the visiting Atlanta Hawks. Will the Spurs cover the big number or will the Hawks keep it relatively close?
The Odds: According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Spurs are 9.5-point home favorites versus the Hawks, who also opened as 9.5-point road underdogs. The total, meanwhile, currently sits at 203 after hitting the board at 204.
Public Betting: As of Monday morning, 67% of tickets are on the Spurs to cover the nearly double-digit spread.
Injury Report: The big injury is obviously Kawhi Leonard, who remains out with a quad injury. Tony Park will also miss tonight’s game due to his own quad injury. On the other side, Isaiah Taylor (eye) is out for the Clippers, as is Miles Plumlee (quad).
OUR PREDICTION: I could see the Hawks keeping the game close but I actually think there’s more value in the total. The over is 4-1 in the last five meetings between these two teams and has cashed in four of the last five meetings in San Antonio.
The over has also hit in eight of the Hawks’ last 10 games, is 4-1-1 in their last six games playing on one day of rest, and is 4-1 in their last five games versus an opponent with a winning record. The over is also 20-6-2 in their last 28 games versus a team with a winning percentage above .600.
On the other side, the over is 6-1-1 in the Spurs’ last eight home games versus a team with a road winning percentage of less than .400. It is also 11-4 in the Spurs’ last 15 home games.
MONDAY NBA PREDICTION: HAWKS/SPURS OVER 203
