Heat trade Zoran Dragic to Celtics
MIAMI, FL (The Spread) – The Celtics have acquired guard Zoran Dragic and a 2020 second-round pick from the Heat.
Zoran Dragic is not to be confused with his brother Goran, who signed a five-year, $85 milliond eal with the Heat earlier this month. Zoran played in 16 games between the Heat and Suns lat season, average 4.7 minutes and 1.8 points per game.
The Celtics are taking on Dragic’s $1.7 million guaranteed salary, which helps the Heat save both salary and luxury taxes for the upcoming season. Miami pulled off a similar move on Sunday when they sent Shabazz Napier to the Magic for a heavily protected second-round pick. The combined moves allow the Heat to save over $11 million in salary and luxury taxes according to ESPN.com’s Brian Windhorst.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Heat are 20/1 to win the 2016 NBA Championship. The Celtics, meanwhile, are 75/1 long shots to win next year’s title.
