Rockets looking to get on track
Houston is coming off a really bad loss, suffering a 121-93 loss at Philadelphia on Monday. The Rockets are just 4-5 over their last nine and they have failed to cover the spread in three straight. Houston is 26-20 overall, 9-13 on the road, 22-23-1 against the spread and 26-20 with the over.
The Rockets are putting up 112.2 points per game on offense this season despite shooting just 44.5 percent from the field. Defensively, Houston is allowing 110.8 points per game while opponents shoot 47.6 percent from the field. The Rockets remain without two top players in Chris Paul and Clint Capela due to injuries. Those two combined for over 30 points, 16 rebounds and nine assists per game. James Harden is leading the team with 35.7 points, 6.4 rebounds and 8.3 assists per contest.
Knicks continue plunge
New York is riding a 6-game losing streak right now following a 127-109 loss at home to the Thunder on Monday. New York is 10-35 overall, 4-15 at home, 20-24-1 against the spread and 25-20 with the over.
The Knicks are struggling on offense. They average 107.2 points per game, but shoot a league-worst 43.2 percent form the field. Defensively, the Knicks are giving up 115.7 points per game while opponents shoot 47.9 percent against them. The team will be without Luke Kornet, who suffered an ankle injury, while Trey Burke is questionable with an illness. Tim Hardaway Jr. is leading the team with 19.6 points per game while Enes Kanter is adding 14.4 points and 10.8 rebounds per game.
NBA Betting Trends
Houston
The Rockets are 5-1 against the spread in their last six games following a loss, but just 4-10 ATS in their last 14 road games.
New York
The Knicks are 5-13 against the spread in their last 18 games following a loss and 1-4 ATS in their last five games plays on 1 day of rest.
Prediction:
These two have yet to meet this season and neither team is playing terribly well right now. The Rockets overcame the loss of Paul, but the loss of Capela really has been having an impact. Their defense has really suffered, giving up 122 points per game over their last five. Today they play a poor New York offense, so I don’t think their defensive woes will continue. Harden should be able to carve up this New York defense as well. I don’t have as much confidence in Houston now as I did a few weeks ago, but I think they can handle themselves today.
NBA Prediction: Houston Rockets -7
