Total set too high in Kings-Pelicans tilt?
With both teams severely banged up, is the total set too high for tonight’s Kings-Pelicans matchup at 8:00PM ET?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the over/under is sitting at 220 points for tonight’s Sacramento-New Orleans matchup while the Pelicans are currently 1-point favorites.
The story tonight for these two teams is injuries. The Pelicans have lost four straight and are only 1-5 since Anthony Davis scored 59 points in a 111-106 win at Detroit on February 21. Davis continues to be a force while averaging 19.4 points per game but he missed a recent contest with a right foot injury and Eric Gordon left the first half of Saturday’s 106-94 loss to Utah with a fracture right ring finger (which is the injury he just returned from). Gordon is likely to miss the rest of the season with the injury.

As for Sacramento, Rajon Rondo played in a 104-94 loss to the Spurs on Saturday but is battling a right ankle sprain, a sprained right thumb, and turf toe. Rudy Gay is also playing through a right shoulder sprain, Kostas Koufos played with food poisoning over the weekend, and Seth Curry is dealing with a right foot sprain.
So how can bettors capitalize tonight? The Kings went scoreless for six minutes last week in a 104-98 loss to Memphis then went without a point for 5 1/2 minutes to open the second half at San Antonio on Sunday. Even though recent trends favor this game going over, with the amount of nicks and bruises that both sides have, plus the shooting woes of Sacramento, the under is a solid buy with the total sitting as high as it is for tonight’s game.
