New York Knicks Fantasy Spin
Elfrid Payton picked up a career-high seven steals during a 105-103 win over the Magic on Thursday, adding 15 points, four rebounds, nine assists and one 3-pointer in 33 minutes. Revenge game? Payton was a winner from the trade deadline with the Knicks opting to keep him rather than deal him to a contender to become a backup PG. Coach Mike Miller has praised Payton since the day he took the job and that really hasn’t changed, so Payton’s outlook is in great shape right now.
Detroit Pistons Fantasy Spin
Reggie Jackson scored a season-high 28 points with three rebounds, three assists, and three 3-pointers in 33 minutes against the Thunder on Friday. There are multiple reports that Jackson could be bought out, but Jackson himself denied those reports on Friday. “I haven’t thought about it; I don’t know who said that.” Jackson’s fantasy owners should be rooting for him to stay put. Sure, he has major shutdown risk, but chances are most of his owners just added him off waivers anyway. He’s becoming a solid option in standard leagues.
NBA Prediction
The over has been profitable when these two teams have met in previous matchups, cashing in six of the last eight meetings overall and four straight in Detroit. Meanwhile, the over has cashed in 11 of the Pistons’ last 12 games when listed as a favorite and is 10-1 in their last 11 home games when they face a road team with a win percentage of less than .400. Finally, the over is 7-1 in Detroit’s last eight games as a home favorite, is 18-7 in its last 25 games overall and is 14-3 in its last 17 games coming off a loss.
