Kobe Bryant back in gym, shooting

LOS ANGELES, CA (The Spread) – Kobe Bryant has begun shooting for the first time since undergoing shoulder surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff.

Bryant posted a picture to his Instragram page on Saturday of himself in the gym, shooting for the first time since his surgery. The caption at the bottom of the photo read: “First day back on the court shooting! Bout damn time!!”

It’s still unclear if Bryant will be ready when the Lakers kick off their season against the Timberwolves on October 28. It was originally estimated that Bryant would be out around nine months, which would put him right around the opener. But the Lakers will know more about Bryant’s status when training camp and preseason get underway. (Either way it’s a great sign that Bryant is back in a gym shooting.)

According to oddsmakers from online sports book GT Bets, the Lakers are currently 175/1 long shots to win the 2016 NBA Championship.
