Lakers heavy long shots in Kobe’s final season

It’s highly unlikely that the Los Angeles Lakers will make a title run in what will be Kobe Bryant’s final season in the NBA.

On Sunday Bryant announced via the Players Tribune website that 2015-16 will be his final season in the NBA. The five-time title champion has had a legendary career but age has finally slowed down the one-time superstar and the Lakers are in rebuilding mode.

Speaking of which, with the Lakers trying to rebuild through youth, they’re currently 2500/1 to win this year’s NBA championship according to oddsmakers from online sports book Mybookie.ag. For comparison, the Warriors are favored to repeat as champions at 2/1 odds, while the Cavs are 3/1 and the Spurs are 5/1.

After making the announcement, Bryant went out and scored 13 points on 4-of-20 shooting with four rebounds, three assists, one steal and two 3-pointers in 34 minutes on Sunday night versus the Pacers. Indiana won 107-103, but the Lakers covered easily as a 9.5-point home underdog.
