Los Angeles Lakers

The Lakers have not had a successful road trip. It started out with a 111-101 loss to the Celtics in which they lost LeBron James inside the final 5 minutes. They then fell to the Nets 111-108, and on Thursday night, they lost 126-106 to the Bucks. In the game against the Bucks, Luka Doncic led the team with 45 points and 11 rebounds. Austin Reaves added 28 points. The only other player on the Lakers to hit double digits was Dalton Knecht who managed 10 points.

LeBron James has already been ruled out for Friday night. Jovan Buha, senior writer for the Athletic covering the Los Angeles Lakers, posted on twitter that when Luka was asked if he would play on Friday night (second leg of back-to-back), he responded “We’ll see. We’ll see on that one.”

Denver Nuggets

The Nuggets have lost two of their last three games, with the latest being a 115-95 loss to the Timberwolves at home on Wednesday night. Nikola Jokic finished with 34 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists. Russell Westbrook followed him up with 19 points on 8 of 12 shooting from the field. Jamal Murray ended with 12 points on 4 of 15 shooting. Denver shot 23.3% from behind the arc, and 72.7% from the free throw line.

Aaron Gordon is questionable to play after missing the last two games. Nikola Jokic is listed as probable. Jamal Murray is also listed as probable for Friday night.

Los Angeles is 0-3 ATS in their last 3 games

The OVER is 3-2 in Los Angeles’ last 5 games

Denver is 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games

The UNDER is 7-3 in Denver’s last 10 games

Lakers vs. Nuggets Prediction:

Take the Nuggets to cover the 13.5 point spread on Friday night. The Lakers have struggled since losing LeBron James, losing and not covering in each of their last 3 games. In those matchups, the Lakers managed 101, 108, and 106 points. In their last game Luka scored 45 of the 106 points. This is the 4th straight road game and the 2nd leg of a back-to-back so it is very possible Doncic decides to sit this one out, especially with them looking at another back-to-back on Sunday and Monday. This means the Lakers could potentially be without their top two leading scorers. Meanwhile the Nuggets rank 3rd in the NBA in points per game averaging 121.1. The Lakers are 14-17-1 ATS on the road this season. The Nuggets should take advantage of a short handed Lakers squad and win big on Friday night.

Lakers vs. Nuggets Prediction: Nuggets -13.5
