Clippers lose, but cover
Los Angeles suffered a 113-105 loss at home in Game 4 to fall behind 3-1 in the series, but the Clippers did manage to cover a 9.5-point spread. They are 2-2 against the spread in this series. LA is now 49-37 on the season, 23-20 on the road, 47-38-1 against the spread and 47-38-1 with the over.
The Clippers were 13 of 31 from the arc in Game 4, but just 34 of 80 from the field. They only amassed 33 rebounds in the loss as well. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led Los Angeles in the loss with 25 points while Patrick Beverley had 12 points with 10 rebounds and five assists. The bench scoring wasn’t as strong as usual, as Lou Williams had just 12 points on 2 of 10 shooting.
Warriors take two in LA
Golden State won both games in Los Angeles to go up 3-1 in the series, but they have failed to cover in two of the games. The Warriors are now 60-26 on the season, 31-12 at home, 37-48-1 against the spread and 46-40 with the under.
The Warriors were pretty tame offensively in Game 4, by their usual standards. They were 42 of 89 from the field and 12 of 39 from 3-point land. Kevin Durant followed up his great Game 3 by putting up 33 points, seven rebounds and six assists in Game 4. Klay Thompson had his best game of the series, scoring 32 points on 12 of 20 shooting, while Stephen Curry had 12 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists.
NBA Betting Trends
Los Angeles
The Clippers are just 1-6 against the spread in their last seven games playing on two days of rest and 2-6 ATS in their last eight conference games.
Golden State
The Warriors are just 10-21-1 against the spread in their last 32 home games and 0-4 ATS in their last four games following a win.
Prediction:
Fourteen points is certainly a big spread, but the Warriors have held 30-point leads in three of the four games in this series. With the series moving back to Golden State, I have a hard time believing the Warriors won’t be focused on performing well tonight. Going back to L.A. shouldn’t be an option, as the team will want a few extra days of rest before facing Houston in what should be a hard-fought series. The Clippers will fight tonight, but if Golden State is shooting well, this just won’t be a game.
NBA Prediction: Golden State Warriors -14
