Lakers win two straight on the road
Los Angeles has won its last two games, both as part of this road trip. That includes a 121-96 victory at Utah on Wednesday. The Lakers are now 19-3 on the year, 10-1 on the road, 13-9 against the spread and 13-9 with the under.
The Lakers have been a pretty strong defensive team this year, allowing just 103.3 points per game while limiting opponents to 43.2 percent shooting from the field and 33.6 percent shooting from the arc. Offensively, Los Angeles is putting up 112.3 points per contest on 48.3 percent shooting. LeBron James is averaging 25.4 points, 10.8 assists and 7.0 rebounds per game. Anthony Davis is adding 26.0 points, 9.1 rebounds and 2.7 blocks per game.
Blazers trying to get on track
Portland is trying to build some momentum right now. The Blazers have won four of their last five coming into today, including a 127-116 win over Sacrament on Wednesday. The Blazers are now 9-13 on the season, 4-4 at home, 10-11-1 against the spread and 12-10 with the over.
The Blazers have struggled to make stops this year, giving up 114.8 points per game while opponents shoot 44.1 percent against them. Offensively, Portland is putting up 113.5 points per game while shooting 45.5 percent from the field. Damian Lillard is leading the team with 26.6 points, 7.4 assists and 4.6 rebounds per game. CJ McCollum is adding 22.4 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.8 assists per contest.
NBA Betting Trends
Los Angeles
The Lakers are 6-2 against the spread in their last eight Friday games, but just 4-11 ATS in their last 15 games as a road favorite.
Portland
The Blazers are 7-2-2 against the spread in their last 11 games as a home underdog, but just 1-5 ATS in their last six Friday games.
Prediction:
These two haven’t met this season, but the Lakers actually covered in their last three meetings of last season despite their struggles throughout the year. I expected letdowns from the Lakers at Denver and at Utah this week, but they have looked great in both games. Tonight will be their third game in four nights, all on the road. However, I will go with Los Angeles to remain strong. The Portland defense has struggled this year and that should open the door for LeBron and AD to run freely. The Blazers were just out-classed by the Clippers this week and haven’t been able to beat a big-name team in weeks.
NBA Prediction: Los Angeles Lakers -4
