Rajon Rondo dealt to Mavericks
DALLAS, TX (TheSpread) – The Dallas Mavericks made a strong move to improve their chances at winning it all this season, trading for Boston PG Rajon Rondo.
The Mavericks completed the deal Thursday night, acquiring Rondo from the Celtics for Brandan Wright, Jaw Crowder, Jameer Nelson and a pair of future draft picks.
“My time in Boston has meant so much,” Rondo wrote on Twitter after the trade. “I’ve grown up with this city both as a basketball player and person. The love I have for the most loyal and supportive fans in the league is unmatched.”
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the Mavericks now have 15/2 odds to win the NBA Finals this season. They have the fourth-shortest odds in the league right now and third-shortest odds of any Western Conference team, just behind San Antonio (9/2) and Golden State (5/1).
Rondo has spent his entire 9-year career with the Celtics, but has battled injuries over the second half of his career, not appearing in more than 53 games in the last four seasons. He averaged 11 points and 8.5 assists over his career. This season, Rondo is posting 8.3 points, 10.8 assists, 7.5 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game.
