Monday NBA Opening Odds
(The Spread) – Five games are on the NBA docket Monday night and it includes a battle between two teams in the Boston Celtics and Utah Jazz that are still trying to get a feel for their new pieces.
Boston (42-15), playing its second game since the trade that brought Jeff Green and Nenad Krstic to its team, will tip off at 9:00PM EST against a Utah squad that is still working in newcomer Devin Harris to its lineup.
Oddsmakers and online sports book Sportsbook.com have put the Celtics as 4-point favorites in the game, while the over-under is set at 191. According to the latest trends, Boston is 26-28 against the spread this season and Utah (32-28) is 27-33 ATS. The Celtics are 28-28 on over-unders and the Jazz are 31-29 with over-unders.
Boston won its initial game since the multi-player trade with Oklahoma City as it downed the Los Angeles Clippers 99-92 on Saturday night. Utah has placed two games since trading Deron Williams to the New Jersey Netts for Harris and Derrick Favors, going 1-1 in those contests.
Paul Pierce leads the Celtics with a 19.0 scoring average, while Ray Allen puts in 17.3 points per contest. Utah’s Al Jefferson has scored at least 20 points in 10 of his last 11 games and Paul Millsap complements him with a 17.3 scoring average.
In other NBA action, the New Jersey Nets host the Phoenix Suns at 7:00PM EST. Phoenix is a 1.5-point favorite and the over-under is 206.5. Atlanta travels to Denver for a 9:00PM EST start. Denver is a 6-point favorite, while the over-under is 201. The Sacramento Kings host the Los Angeles Clippers at 10:00PM EST. The Kings are 2-point favorites with an over-under of 207.
