New York Knicks star center Amare Stoudemire recently said that “no one is afraid of the Miami Heat”, who have certainly gained notoriety this season because of The Big Three – LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh. Stoudemire and the Knicks will have a chance to prove themselves at Madison Square Garden Thursday night at 8:00PM EST on TNT against a Miami squad that has been banged up as of late.
Oddsmakers and online sports book Sportsbook.com have made Miami 3-point favorites, while the over-under is set at 208.5.
The Heat (31-13) are still not at 100 percent in terms of health, although they have had James back for two games now from a sprained ankle and it looks as if Wade will return after missing a 120-103 win against Toronto after dealing with migraine headaches. The only one missing from the trio now is Bosh, who is going to be out for a third consecutive game with a high ankle sprain.
A four-game losing streak was ended with the victory over the Raptors and Miami has since had four full days off to help recover from its ailments. A huge boost to the Heat in the game against Toronto was the contributions of Mike Miller, who has battled injury problems of his own this season but stepped into the spotlight to score 32 in the victory.
New York (23-21) recently put a six-game losing skid of its own into the past, returning home Monday to down the Washington Wizards 115-106. According to recent trends, the Knicks are 27-15 versus the spread this season while the Heat are 20-22 ATS.
Stoudemire leads the Knicks in scoring at 26.1 ppg, while James comes in averaging 25.9 points per game as well as 7.2 apg and 7.2 rpg. Wade puts in 25.1 ppg.
Following the Heat and the Knicks, TNT will broadcast a battle between the Boston Celtics and the Portland Trail Blazers at 10:30PM EST. Boston is a 4-point favorite with an over-under of 185.5. The third and final game on the day’s card pits the Houston Rockets at the Dallas Mavericks at 8:30PM EST. Dallas is a 5.5 point favorite and the over-under is 204.
