(The Spread) – Two nationally televised games on ABC and one on ESPN highlight a seven-game NBA schedule Sunday. Continue reading for opening odds on every game on the NBA schedule for Sunday, January 30.
The Boston Celtics and the Los Angeles Lakers’ players might be saying all of the right things leading up to Sunday’s matchup between the two rivals that dates back decades, but recent play and signals by both teams indicate that it is indeed a circled date on the calendar.
Los Angeles (33-14) hosts Boston (35-11) today at 3:30 p.m. in a game televised nationally on ABC. Oddsmakers and online sports book Sportsbook.com have listed the Lakers as a 3-point favorite, while the over-under is set at 185.
Both teams are coming off an embarrassing loss, leading some to believe that there was a lot of looking ahead to Sunday’s game a little too soon. Boston was on the receiving end of an 88-71 thrashing at the hands of Phoenix Friday night in a game that was televised on ESPN. The Lakers fared little better as they lost 100-95 Friday night at home to the lowly Sacramento Kings.
Kobe Bryant is having another outstanding season for Los Angeles as he averages 25.1 points per game, 5.0 rebounds, and 4.9 assists. Pau Gasol scores 18.4 points per game. For the Celtics, Paul Pierce is putting in 18.9 points per game to go with 5.0 rebounds and 3.2 assists.
According to the matchups page, Boston is 21-22 against the spread this season while the Lakers are 21-26 ATS.
Another big showdown Sunday involves the depleted Miami Heat at the Oklahoma City Thunder, which will air at 1:00PM EST on ABC. There is not an overnight line listed for the contest. On ESPN at 10:30PM EST, the Golden State Warriors will host the Utah Jazz. There is also no overnight line for that contest.
