Friday’s NBA Opening Odds
(The Spread) – A total of nine games are on the NBA docket Friday night, one of which being a matchup between two teams firmly in the Eastern Conference playoff picture in the conference-best Boston Celtics and the host Philadelphia 76ers.
Boston comes into play with a 46-16 record and are 19-10 in road games. Philadelphia has a record of 33-31, good for seventh in the Eastern Conference. The 76ers are 21-11 in home games this season.
Oddsmakers and online sports book Sportsbook.com have made the Celtics 2-point favorites in the game, while the over-under is currently set at 191. According to the latest trends, Philadelphia is 5-5 against the spread versus Boston over the last three seasons. Five of the last nine games in this series have gone over the total. The Celtics have won nine of the last 10 meetings straight up.
Boston had its five-game winning streak snapped Wednesday with a 108-103 home loss to the Los Angeles Clippers. Philadelphia was on a three-game winning streak when it had it snapped Wednesday by losing 110-105 at home to the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Elton Brand highlights the 76ers attack with a 15.2 scoring average along with 8.2 rebounds. Boston’s Paul Pierce tallies 19.1 points and 5.1 rebounds per game.
In other NBA action Friday night, Oklahoma City is home to face Detroit at 8:00PM EST. The Thunder are 9-point favorites and the over-under is 206.5. San Antonio hosts Sacramento at 8:30PM EST as well. The Spurs are 11.5-point favorites with an over-under of 208. The Orlando Magic travel to the Golden State Warriors for a 10:30PM EST tip. Orlando is a 4.5-point faovirte, while the over-under is 207.5.
