Thursday NBA Opening Odds
(The Spread) – Just two games are on the NBA schedule Thursday night, but they are both top-notch matchups and encompass the nationally televised TNT doubleheader.
Headlining Thursday night’s doubleheader is the Eastern Conference in-state battle between the host Miami Heat and the Orlando Magic. Oddsmakers and online sports book Sportsbook.com have made Miami 4.5-point favorites, while the over-under is set at 198.
According to the latest trends, Miami is 28-30 against the spread and 32-27 on over-unders. Orlando is 28-32 ATS and 27-32 with over-unders. The Heat have a record of 22-6 in home contests this season and the Magic are 15-13 on the road.
Miami lost by a final of 91-86 at home against New York on Sunday and are 2-2 since the All-Star break. Orlando defeated New York at home 116-110 on Tuesday, which was the third victory in a row for the Magic.
LeBron James averages 26.2 points per game, 7.5 rebounds, and 7.2 assists to pace Miami. Orlando is led by center Dwight Howard, who puts in 23.3 points and grabs 13.9 rebounds per game. Howard has scored at least 30 points in five of his past six contests.
The second half of the doubleheader involves the Denver Nuggets (36-26) and the host Utah Jazz (32-29). Utah is a 3.5-point favorite.
