Sunday’s NBA Opening Odds
(The Spread) -It is a nine-game schedule for the NBA Sunday and it starts with a bang as the ABC doubleheader takes center stage during the afternoon.
The Miami Heat (43-19) continue to struggle as they dropped their third straight in embarrassing fashion Friday night, falling 125-95 at San Antonio. Miami will try to end its losing streak at home Sunday as it goes up against the Chicago Bulls (42-18) on ABC at 12:30PM EST.
Oddsmakers and online sports book Sportsbook.com have made Miami 5-point favorites in the contest, while the over-under is set at 188. According to the latest trends, Chicago is 36-23 against the spread in all games this season. Miami is 5-4 against the spread versus Chicago over the last three seasons. Seven of the last 10 games in the series have gone under the total.
Chicago has struggled away from home, going just 16-14, but the Bulls have done a good job on the current road swing as they are 3-1 with the Miami game the last on the trip.
Derrick Rose averages 24.6 points per game and 8.1 assists for Chicago, the only player in the NBA to be in the top 10 of both categories. LeBron James pours in 26.2 ppg, 7.5 rpg, and 7.1 apg to pace the Heat.
The second half of the ABC double header pairs the Los Angeles Lakers and the host San Antonio Spurs at 3:30PM EST. San Antonio is a 2.5-point favorite and the over-under is 191. Boston is at Milwaukee for a 9:00PM EST tipoff on ESPN. The Celtics are 7.5-point favorites with an over-under of 182.5.
