Oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com have made the visiting Lakers 5.5-point favorites over the Hornets, while the over/under total is currently 182 points. The opening tip off for tonight’s game is at 9:30PM ET.
After the Hornets surprised most NBA observers with a 109-100 win in Game 1 of the series, the Lakers answered back with an 87-78 victory in Game 2. Despite the loss, New Orleans covered as 12-point favorites.
Andrew Bynum led the Lakers with 17 points and 11 rebounds in Game 2, while Lamar Odom chipped in with 16 points and seven boards. Ron Artest had 15 points and six rebounds, while Kobe Bryant had a rather quiet night with 11 points and two assists.
NBA Playoff Free Pick: There’s usually always value with taking a home underdog and with the way the Hornets have hung with the Lakers so far in this series, it’s hard to go against New Orleans tonight at home. According to latest NBA trends, the underdog is 16-5 against the spread in the last 21 meetings between these two teams and the Hornets are 6-1-1 against the number in their last eight games versus the NBA Pacific. The Lakers are 1-4 against the number in their last five Friday games and 2-7 ATS in their last nine games overall. If the Hornets can get another solid night out of Chris Paul (20 points, nine assists in Game 2) and Trevor Ariza (22 points, seven rebounds), then New Orleans should keep things close tonight and cover.
