NBA Predictions: Are Cavaliers going to cover at home vs. Spurs? 2/25/18

Spurs vs. Cavaliers Pick

Will the Cleveland Cavaliers rebound from a home loss their last time playing at Quicken Loans Arena to notch a victory over the visiting San Antonio Spurs this afternoon at 3:30PM ET?

CURRENT ODDS

According to oddsmakers at YouWager, the Cavaliers are listed as a 4.5-point favorite on the spread line. The total is set at 215.5 points.

LINE MOVEMENT

Cleveland opened at the 4.5-point line it is still at now, while the total has fluctuated slightly and gone as high as 216.5 after opening at 215. The Cavs can be found as a 5-point fave at some books, while the total is at 216 if you shop around.

PUBLIC BETTING

As of Sunday morning, 81 percent of public bets have sided with the host Cavaliers. Online wager info also shows that 56 percent of bets are coming in on the over.

INJURY TO WATCH

Spurs veteran Manu Ginobili is nursing a bruised sternum and is questionable to suit up today. For the Cavaliers, Jordan Clarkson suffered a head injury last game but is expected to play today.

BETTING STRATEGY

In the first meeting this season in January, the Spurs secured a 114-102 victory on their home court. That data doesn’t mean as much considering how different Cleveland’s roster looks a month-plus later. The Cavs had a dud their last home game when they lost 110-103 to the Wizards, but did rebound nicely with a 112-89 victory at the depleted Grizzlies. While the Spurs are 6-2 ATS in their last eight meetings in Cleveland, they are also a more vulnerable team this season with Kawhi Leonard out. The spread is reasonable and shop around to make sure you catch the Cavs at -4.5 or better, not at 5 where it is offered some places. My money is on the hosts.
