76ers vs. Pelicans Pick
Are the Philadelphia 76ers going to pull off a road win tonight at the New Orleans Pelicans? Game time is 7PM ET.
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the Pelicans are a 5.5-point favorite on the spread line. The over-under is set at 220 points.
Philadelphia comes in with a 13-12 overall record and 15-10 ATS after a 105-98 loss at the Cavaliers Saturday night, its third straight defeat. New Orleans is 13-13 overall and 14-12 ATS following a 116-109 home overtime loss to the Kings. The two meetings last season were split 1-1 straight up and 1-1 ATS. The under went 2-0.
The Sixers were led by JJ Redick with 19 points, two assists and two steals in the loss at Cleveland. Robert Covington contributed 19 points, six rebounds, four steals and two assists before leaving the game late with an injury suffered after tumbling into the stands. He is likely out for tonight’s game. Ben Simmons added 14 points, 10 assists and six rebounds. Philadelphia allowed the Cavs to shoot 14-of-29 from 3-point range.
DeMarcus Cousins poured in 38 points to go with 11 rebounds, four assists and three steals in the loss to Sacramento. Anthony Davis accounted for 18 points, six rebounds and two assists in his first game back from injury. Ian Clark added 15 points, three rebounds and three assists. New Orleans was outscored 14-7 in overtime.
The under is 5-1 in the last six meetings. The under is 5-0 in Philadelphia’s last five games.
The 76ers are in a rut right now, but will receive a boost with Joel Embiid back in the lineup tonight after he was rested in Cleveland. But with Covington probably out, it leaves Philly shorthanded without an important two-way player. Even so, the Pelicans always seem to have an adjustment period with both of their bigs back on the floor at the same time. It showed in the loss to the Kings and will likely continue tonight. Take the Sixers to cover here with a big night from Embiid.
