NBA Predictions: Can Raptors snap losing streak vs. red-hot Spurs? 1/24/17

Spurs vs. Raptors Prediction

Can the Raptors snap their three-game losing streak against a red-hot Spurs team at 7:00PM ET tonight?

According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Raptors are currently 3-point home underdogs versus the Spurs after opening as a 2.5-point dog. As for the total, the number hit the board at 209 and has been bet down a full three points to 206.

Tony Parker has been ruled out for tonight’s game against the Raptors. This will be the fourth straight game that Parker has missed since suffering an ankle/foot injury last Thursday in a win over the Nuggets. Patty Mills came off the bench to score a team-high 20 points in 20 minutes in the Spurs’ win over the Nets on Monday and will continue to see extended time with Parker sidelined. Manu Ginobili, meanwhile, is listed as probable after not playing on Monday night due to back spasms.

The Raptors will be without DeMar DeRozan against both the Spurs and the Grizzlies due to an ankle injury. He’s not in a walking boot and will be re-evaluated prior to Friday’s game versus the Bucks, but he won’t be in the lineup tonight or Wednesday. This puts even more emphasis on Kyle Lowry’s all-around game, while Norman Powell and Terrence Ross will pick up the slack with DeRozan out.

OUR PREDICTION: The home team is 5-1 against the spread in the last six games between these two teams while the Spurs are just 1-3-1 against the number in their last five games in Toronto. The Raptors are also a good bet at home, going 11-5-1 at the betting window in their last 17 games in Toronto and are 13-5-1 ATS in their last 19 home games versus an opponent with a winning road record. With the Spurs playing last night in Brooklyn and the Raptors desperate for a win, I like Toronto to cover the 3.
