San Antonio took the lead in the series once again when it picked up a 116-103 win in Game 5 on Tuesday night. The home team has won and covered the spread in all five games of this series. San Antonio comes into today’s game 64-23 overall, 30-12 on the road and 44-41-2 against the spread. Memphis is 45-42 overall, 26-17 at home and 43-44 against the spread.
Though the Spurs won by double digits in Game 5, it was still another grind against the Grizzlies. Kawhi Leonard got some help from his teammates in this one, as he had to put up just 28 points and six assists in the win. Patty Mills came off the bench and scored 20 points while Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker dialed back the time machine to combine for 26 points and nine assists. Mike Conley had another solid game for the Grizzlies, putting up 26 points with six assists and four steals. Marc Gasol added 17 points, seven assists and five rebounds.
Part of me wants to pick the Spurs to finish the job, but something tells me the Grizzlies are going to take this series back to San Antonio. The Grizzlies have been right there with the Spurs the whole way. I don’t see that changing tonight in Memphis. It took a big effort from role players like Mills and Ginobili for the Spurs to win comfortably in Game 5. Those efforts aren’t likely to be duplicated on the road. Look for Conley to lead the Grizz to a Game 7.
