Pistons vs. Spurs Prediction
The San Antonio Spurs look to hand the Detroit Pistons another loss when the two meet up tonight. Can the Spurs win convincingly?
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the Spurs are the clear favorite at home tonight, as they are getting odds of -9 points against the Pistons. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 194 points. The Spurs have won and covered the spread in three straight meetings with the Pistons.
The Pistons are coming off a 107-100 loss at Phoenix. Detroit is now 4-4 on the season, having lost their first two games of a West Coast road trip. The Pistons are also 4-4 against the spread, failing to cover in all of their losses. Detroit has been pretty good on defense, allowing just 97.4 points per game, but they are posting only 98.1 points per game. Reggie Jackson has been out all year and won’t return to the lineup until December, and his loss is clearly being felt on offense.
The Spurs have lost back-to-back games to the Clippers and Rockets at home to fall to 5-3 on the season and 4-3-1 against the spread. They are just 1-3 against the spread at home, as their defense has let them down, allowing an average of just under 108 points per game in those three losses. San Antonio is giving up just 97.6 points per game on the year while scoring 102.1 points per contest. Danny Green and Tony Parker are both listed as out for the game due to injury. Despite having a strong roster, the team is relying heavily on Kawhi Leonard and LaMarcus Aldridge. They combine for 45.5 points and 12.2 rebounds per contest this season.

The Pistons just don’t have the fire power to deal with the top teams in the NBA. While the Spurs are playing without some key players, they still have the talent to handle the Pistons. Detroit is now playing well on this road trip and it isn’t likely to correct itself tonight.
