New York needs No. 7 to snap back to life
Carmelo Anthony currently finds himself mired in an awful shooting slump. But can the New York superstar rise to the occasion against the best team in basketball?
The Knicks visit Golden State tonight, with a 10:30 p.m. ET tip at Oracle Arena. Online sports book Bovada.lv gives the Warriors odds of -1700 to handle their business at home. Conversely, Jeff Hornacek’s bunch represents a +850 underdog.

While New York (14-11) has won six of its past eight contests, Anthony’s not exactly spearheading the charge. The nine-time All-Star holds a .388 field goal percentage so far in December. Fortunately, Kristaps Porzingis appears fully capable of picking up the slack. After posting back-to-back double-doubles vs. the Kings and Lakers, the second-year sensation figures to provide a considerable challenge for the Dubs’ frontcourt.
Of course, Steve Kerr’s perimeter options bow to no one. Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson recently combined for 47 points in a 113-109 triumph over New Orleans. Then there’s small forward Kevin Durant, who’s well on his way to another 2000-point season.

We can’t shake the feeling that the Knicks’ extremely good fortune is about to expire, and hard. To wit: The Warriors (22-4) haven’t faced a legitimate challenge in Oakland since Houston pushed them to two overtimes on Dec. 1. Anthony may regain his stroke, but his club doesn’t stand a chance.
