NBA Predictions: Will Cavs fail to cover spread vs. Grizzlies? 2/23/18

Cavs vs. Grizzlies Prediction

One night after they were upset at home by the Wizards, will the Cavs struggle again tonight when they visit the Grizzlies as a road favorite? Tip-off is set for 8:00 p.m. ET.

CURRENT ODDS

According to oddsmakers from online sportsbook YouWager, the Cavs are 5.5-point road favorites to beat the Grizzlies tonight in Memphis. The total currently sits at 211.5.

LINE MOVEMENT

Despite the majority of the public action coming in on Cleveland, the point spread has dropped a full point at some online sportsbooks. The Cavs opened as a 6.5-point favorite but the line has dropped to 5.5 at the majority of online books.

PUBLIC BETTING

As of this writing, 74% of betting tickets wagered at online sportsbooks are on the Cavs. The majority of the money is also on the over for this matchup.

KEY INJURY TO WATCH

Kevin Love (hand) remains out for the Cavs while Mike Conley will miss the rest of the season for Memphis. Chander Parsons is also questionable to play for the Grizzlies tonight due to an illness.

BETTING STRATEGY

Even LeBron admitted following the loss to Washington that it’ll take time for this new-look Cavs lineup to gel. Cleveland was hot before the All-Star break and bettors bought back in, only to have the Cavs crush them at the betting window again. Books have cashed all year on the Cavs’ ATS failures and I think that will be the case again tonight. Memphis is a brutal 1-9 over its last 10 games but the Grizzlies will come out hyped for this one. While Cleveland is just 3-12 at the betting window in its last 15 road games, Memphis is 8-3-1 against the spread in its last 12 home contests.

OUR PREDICTION: MEMPHIS GRIZZLIES +5.5
