Grizzlies vs. Hornets Pick

Will the Charlotte Hornets cover the point spread by double digits tonight when they host the slumping Memphis Grizzlies tonight at 7:00PM ET?

LINE MOVEMENT

Charlotte opened as a 9.5-point favorite before the spread bumped up, while the over-under has come down from 214.5. The total is set at either -9.5 or -10 fairly evenly depending on what sportsbook you look at, while the total has settled at 213 everywhere.

PUBLIC BETTING

As of Thursday afternoon, 65 percent of public bets are coming in on the visiting Grizzlies. Online wager info also says 63 percent of bets are on the under.

INJURY TO WATCH

Power forward Ivan Rabb (heel) is questionable to play tonight, while center Marc Gasol (rest) has been ruled out. For the Hornets, shooting guard Nicolas Batum (Achilles) is questionable. Center Cody Zeller (knee) is out indefinitely.

BETTING STRATEGY

Tyreke Evans will play tonight after resting last night in the 119-105 loss at the Sixers, but now Gasol will be out tonight. Memphis seems committed to not playing its two best players at the same time as it is in full tank mode. Both teams are in a back-to-back with Charlotte securing a come-from-behind 111-105 victory at Brooklyn last night. Charlotte won the first meeting this season 104-99 at Memphis all the way back in October, which I believe holds little relevance to the state of the two squads now. While the Grizzlies have nothing to play for, either do the Hornets and this spread seems a couple points too high. I like Memphis in this spot.
