Pelicans vs. Grizzlies Pick
Are the New Orleans Pelicans and host Memphis Grizzlies going to play a high-scoring game Wednesday night at 8PM EST?
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the Grizzlies are listed as a 2-point favorite on the spread and the over-under is set at 206.
New Orleans finished last season 34-48 to finish outside the playoff picture, while Memphis went 43-39 to grab the seventh seed in the Western Conference postseason where it lost in the first round to the Spurs. The two meetings last season were split 2-2 straight up and ATS. The over-under was 1-3 in the four games.
The Pelicans were unable to capitalize on the addition of DeMarcus Cousins (24.4 ppg in 17 games)at last season’s trade deadline, but will now have him for a full season as he adjusts even more to playing alongside Anthony Davis (28.0 ppg, 11.3 rpg, 2.2 bpg). Jrue Holliday (17.1 ppg, 7.2 apg) will also be a key factor this season for New Orleans.
As for Memphis, it continues to ride the veteran duo of Mike Conley (20.5 ppg, 6.3 apg) and Marc Gasol (19.5 ppg, 6.3 rpg) to playoff appearances every year before falling short against the stacked Western Conference. The absence of Zach Randolph (14.1 ppg) to free agency will leave a void that the Grizzlies hope will be picked up by Jamychal Green (8.9 ppg).
The uBet on Pelicans vs. Grizzlies in Memphis.
Memphis has been known for its defense for years, while New Orleans is very strong on the interior with its twin towers. The pace of this game should be average at best and efficiency should be a little less than normal given the matchup. We like the under here.
