Pistons vs. Nets Pick
Will the Detroit Pistons grind out a road victory tonight at 7:30PM ET when they play at the Brooklyn Nets?
Who Oddsmakers Like: Detroit. According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the Pistons are a 2.5-point favorite on the spread line. The total is set at 204 points. Detroit opened as a 1.5-point favorite, while the over-under has dropped considerably after opening at 209.
Who the Public Likes: Detroit. As of Wednesday afternoon, 70 percent of public bets have sided with the Pistons.
Injury Report: Pistons forward Stanley Johnson has missed the last two games with a strained hip, but is probable to play tonight. Reggie Jackson has been out since suffering a sprained ankle on Dec. 27, which was determined to be a six-to-eight week recovery period. Jon Leuer is out until mid-January with a sprained ankle. For the Nets, Nik Stauskas is questionable tonight with a sprained ankle. Allen Crabbe is expected to be out with a sore shin. Demarre Carroll will miss a second straight game with a sprained right knee. D’Angelo Russell is out until mid-January as he recovers from arthroscopic knee surgery. Jeremy Lin is out for the season after rupturing his patellar tendon in the season opener.
Who the Trends Like: Detroit is 0-6 ATS in its last six meetings in Brooklyn and 2-9 ATS in the last 11 meetings overall. The over is 14-3 in the last 17 meetings in Brooklyn.
Who We Like: The Pistons have struggled with Jackson out of the lineup, while center Andre Drummond has also been less than 100 percent recently with sore ribs that forced him to miss a game. Meanwhile, the Nets are coming off a pair of heartbreaking losses at home versus Boston and in overtime to Toronto. Brooklyn has a solid 25-15 ATS the spread record this season, showing it is competitive even in losses. I’m going to go with the Nets tonight as the Pistons are only 8-13 straight up on the road this season.
