LINE MOVEMENT
The point spread for tonight’s game has not moved off the original number, as Toronto opened as a 10-point road favorite and remains a 10-point favorite. That said, the total has shifted off the opening number. After hitting the board at 214, the number has climbed to 214.5 at the majority of online sportsbooks.
PUBLIC BETTING
As of this writing, 68% of the betting tickets wagered at online sportsbooks are on the Raptors to cover the point spread. Meanwhile, 78% of the betting tickets are currently on the over.
KEY INJURY TO WATCH
Aaron Gordon (concussion) is probable to return to the Magic’s lineup tonight but Jonathon Simmons (wrist) is questionable. Evan Fournier (knee) and Terrence Ross (knee) are both out. On the other side, Fred VanVleet is questionable to play for the Raptors due to a wrist injury.
BETTING STRATEGY
I try not to make a habit of laying double digits on the road but it’s late in the year and if you want to back a good team like Toronto, you have to be willing to pay a premium. The Raptors have covered the number in seven of their last eight road games. They’re also 14-6 at the betting window in their last 20 games overall and are 21-7 against the spread in their last 28 games when facing opponents that own a winning percentage below .400. Thus, I don’t see the Raptors playing down to their competition tonight. Meanwhile, the Magic are just 8-20-1 ATS in their last 29 games versus teams from the Atlantic.
