Golden State took Game 1 of the series on Sunday, 121-109. The Warriors have won seven straight meetings with the Blazers now, but Portland has covered the spread in three straight meetings. Golden State is 68-15 overall, 37-5 at home and 40-40-3 against the spread. Portland is 41-42 overall, 16-26 on the road and 41-42 against the spread.
The Warriors did their usual work on Sunday, shooting 43-of-81 from the field while making 11 3-pointers to get the win. Kevin Durant put up 32 points and 10 rebounds, but suffered a calf strain in the win and is questionable for tonight’s contest. Stephen Curry backed up Durant by scoring 29 points while Draymond Green had 19 points with 12 rebounds, 9 assists and 5 blocks. Portland also hit 11 3-pointers in the loss, but just couldn’t quite keep pace. C.J. McCollum had 41 points and eight rebounds in the loss while Damian Lillard added 34 points.
The Warriors can score, but their defense is somewhat lacking, especially at the guard position. I would expect Lillard and McCollum to put up big numbers once again, which is going to make it tough for the Warriors to win by 14 points. Durant won’t be 100 percent even if he can go, so that cuts into Golden State’s production. If Curry and Thompson aren’t hot on the arc, then the Blazers should cover.
