Hornets vs. Raptors Pick
Is the total set too high tonight when the Charlotte Hornets play at the Toronto Raptors? Game time is 7:30PM ET.
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the Raptors are an 8-point favorite on the spread line. The over-under is set at 204 points.
Charlotte enters with an 8-11 overall record and 9-9-1 ATS after a 106-86 home loss to the Spurs. Toronto is 12-7 overall and 11-8 ATS following a 112-78 victory at the Hawks. The Hornets went 2-2 straight up and 3-1 ATS in four meetings last season. The over-under went 2-2.
In the defeat against San Antonio, Charlotte was led by Kemba Walker with 18 points along with five assists and three rebounds. Walker will miss tonight’s game, giving the start to Michael Carter-Williams. Frank Kaminsky recorded 12 points and three rebounds off the bench. Jeremy Lamb added 12 points, five boards and four assists off the bench. The Hornets led 15-14 after one quarter, but were outscored 26-14 in the second quarter and were unable to recover.
Norman Powell registered 17 points and three steals in the victory at Atlanta. Jonas Valunciunas contributed 16 points, eight rebounds and two assists. Kyle Lowry added 15 points, 13 rebounds and six assists. The Raptors outscored the hosts a combined 71-33 in the second and third quarters.
Charlotte is 13-4 ATS in its last 17 meetings in Toronto. The under is 5-0 in the last five Toronto games overall.
Not only are the Raptors a good defensive team, but they get to face a Hornets squad missing their catalyst in Walker. It’s hard to imagine the Charlotte offense running with the same fluidity with Carter-Williams at the helm. Charlotte will try to slow down the game and rely on defense to stay in the game, making the under a strong play.
