Pelicans unable to get on track
New Orleans is coming off a 102-94 win at Portland on Monday, but the Pelicans have not been able to string together wins consecutively. The Pelicans are 8-23 on the season, 4-12 on the road, 11-19-1 against the spread and 17-14 with the under.
The Pelicans are putting up 111.5 points per game on offense this season while shooting 44.5 percent as a team. New Orleans is giving up 117.7 points per game while opponents shoot 46.9 percent from the floor. Brandon Ingram is leading the team with 25 points, 7.1 rebounds and 3.8 assists per contest. Jrue Holiday is adding 19.7 points, 5.1 rebounds and 6.5 assists per game.
Nuggets on a tear
Denver is riding a seven-game win streak heading into Christmas thanks to a 113-111 win at Phoenix on Monday. The Nuggets are 21-8 on the season, 13-3 at home, 12-14-3 against the spread and 18-11 with the under.
The Nuggets are putting up 107.8 points per game this season on offense while shooting 45.7 percent from the field. Defensively, Denver is allowing just 102.1 points per game while opponents shoot 44 percent against them. Nikola Jokic is leading the team with 17.4 points, 10.0 rebounds and 6.9 assists per contest. Jamal Murray is adding 17.8 points, 4.3 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game.
NBA Betting Trends
New Orleans
The Pelicans are 2-6-1 against the spread in their last nine road games and 3-8-1 ATS in their last 12 games as an underdog.
Denver
The Nuggets are 0-3-1 against the spread in their last four games as a favorite and 1-3-1 ATS in their last five games following a win.
Prediction:
These two met up on Halloween with the Pelicans getting a 122-107 win at home. The Pelicans have actually covered in five straight against the Nuggets. Denver has been winning, but they haven’t been really blowing opponents away. The list of opponents hasn’t been the cream of the crop either. They had wins of nine points or less at home against Minnesota, Orlando, New York and Oklahoma City. The Pelicans are coming off a nice road win and have not lost a road game by more than 7 points in weeks. I think New Orleans is going to be able to be competitive in this game because Denver isn’t a team that plays a style to really blow opponents away.
NBA Prediction: New Orleans Pelicans +9.5
