Durant pours in 38
Golden State small forward Kevin Durant scored a game-high 38 points in Sunday’s 118-92 blowout win at the Pelicans. He added nine rebounds, five assists, one steal and one blocked shot. Three other Warriors were in double figures as Steph Curry scored 23, Klay Thompson had 13 and Quinn Cook added 12 off the bench. As a team, the Warriors shot 46-of-95 from the floor and hit 11-of-33 from the free throw line plus 15-of-18 from the free throw line. Meanwhile, New Orleans was only 32-of-88 from the field and a dismal 4-of-26 from 3-point range. The Pelicans did do a fine job at the free throw line as they were 24-of-30.
Moore has strong showing in loss
Pelicans small forward E’Twaun Moore has been provided major minutes all season as a trustable role player who can stretch the floor with a strong outside shot plus serviceable play in a variety of areas. Moore stepped up in Game 4 despite the loss as he scored 20 points on 8-of-14 shooting, his highest-scoring output of the postseason and fifth straight game in double figures. It was the most he scored in a game since a 30-point effort in a 123-95 home win over the Grizzlies on April 4. He averaged 12.5 points per game during the regular season and is now averaging 11.5 per in the playoffs due to his recent strong efforts.
NBA Betting Trends
New Orleans
The Pelicans are 6-1 ATS in their last seven road games. The over is 10-4 in the last 14 meetings.
Golden State
The Warriors are 4-14 ATS in their last 14 games following a straight up win. The over is 6-1 in the last seven meetings in Golden State.
Prediction:
New Orleans seems like its has the type of players that aren’t going to fold when the chips are going against it and I expect a better showing here than last game. The Pelicans are a much better offensive team than it showed in Game 4 and I wouldn’t expect a repeat showing. As long as the Pelicans offense is back to normal, they should be able to cover the spread as underdogs.
