Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers from online sportsbook BetNow.eu, the Timberwolves are 7.5-point favorites to beat the Knicks. The total, meanwhile, sits at 225.5 points and as of this writing, 56% of the public betting tickets wagered at online sportsbooks are on the Timberwolves to cover the point spread.
New York Knicks Fantasy Spin
DeAndre Jordan posted another double-double in the Knicks loss to the Kings on Saturday, tallying 14 points, 15 boards, one assist, one block and one turnover in 26 minutes. Jordan did almost all of his damage in the first half, as he ceded playing time to Mitchell Robinson and Luke Kornet in the second half. Still, despite relatively limited minutes, DJ has recorded a double-double in each of his last four appearances.
Minnesota Timberwolves Fantasy Spin
Karl-Anthony Towns (knee) will get further testing on Saturday night, according to coach Ryan Saunders. Presumably, it’s going to be an MRI for KAT. The good news is he was walking around after the game, and coach Saunders said that he “has not heard concern” of a serious injury. Towns has only missed a game in his NBA career because of a dangerous car crash and he said he was lucky to not be seriously hurt, so hopefully the luck continues. Until we get more news, Taj Gibson, Keita Bates-Diop, Dario Saric, Anthony Tolliver and Gorgui Dieng could become adds.
NBA Betting Trends
New York
The Knicks are 5-1 against the spread in their last six road games versus an opponent with a home winning percentage of greater than .600.
Minnesota
The Timberwolves are 1-5 against the spread in their last six games after allowing 100 points or more in their previous contest.
Prediction
Karl-Anthony Towns is unlikely to play tonight, which is why probably why the spread dropped from 11.5 down to 7.5. Even if he doesn’t suit up, I still like the T-Wolves in this matchup. The Knicks are horrendous, losing four of their last five games against the spread and 15 of their last 19 games when facing an opponent with a losing record. They’re also 4-10 at the betting window in their last 14 games following a loss and are 2-6 ATS in their last eight games versus the Western Conference.
Sunday NBA Prediction: Minnesota Timberwolves -7.5
