Denver Nuggets DFS Spin
Michael Porter Jr. played 28 minutes in Saturday’s win over the Thunder, scoring 22 points (8-of-15 FGs, 1-of-1 FTs) with six rebounds, one assist, one steal, one block, and five 3-pointers. After playing 35 minutes in Denver’s season opener, MPJ played in both ends of the team’s Friday/Saturday back-to-back. Of course, there was a slight decrease in minutes, with Porter playing 28 in both games, but the fact that he was available for both ends of the back-to-back is an encouraging sign. Porter’s shooting better than 50% from the field for the season while also averaging 6.3 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 1.0 steals, 0.7 blocks, and 4.0 3-pointers per game. Hopefully, Porter can get the assist average up, but he’s averaging just over one helper per game for his career. So fantasy managers would be better off hoping that the 3-pointers and defensive production levels remain where they currently are.
Portland Trail Blazers DFS Spin
Damian Lillard recorded a line of 41 points (15-of-25 FGs, 5-of-7 FTs), five rebounds, two assists, one block, and six 3-pointers in Sunday’s 106-104 win over the Lakers. On Sunday afternoon, Lillard got off to a slow start, missing his first four shot attempts. Whether or not this gave the Lakers a false sense of security is for them to answer, but Lillard was nearly unstoppable from that point onward. His 3-pointer with 12.4 seconds remaining gave Portland a 104-102 lead, with Jerami Grant’s shot with 3.0 seconds to go being the difference. If there was an issue in Sunday’s win, it was the turnover count, as Lillard racked up a game-high six, but the overall line makes up for that. Unfortunately for managers who have Lillard rostered, the Blazers will only play three games next week, beginning Monday night against Denver.
