Thunder on a roll
Oklahoma City is coming off a 120-111 win at home over Portland on Monday for its fourth straight win and cover. The Thunder are now 37-19 on the season, 17-12 on the road, 33-23 against the spread and 29-27 with the over.
OKC is putting up 115.3 points per game this season while shooting 46.2 percent as a team. Defensively, the Thunder are giving up 109.8 points per game while allowing opponents to shoot 45.7 percent. Paul George is leading the team with 28.7 points and 8.0 rebounds per game while Russell Westbrook is adding 21.2 points, 11.1 rebounds and 11.2 assists per game. Guard Dennis Schroder is not available tonight for personal reasons.
Pelicans struggling to score
The New Orleans Pelicans are coming off back-to-back losses to the Grizzlies and Magic where they combined for just 178 points. The Pelicans have failed to cover the spread in three straight games. New Orleans is now 25-33 on the season, 16-11 at home, 27-30-1 against the spread and 30-28 with the over.
The Pelicans are averaging 115.3 points per game on offense this season, but that has fallen to just 106.4 over their last five. As a team, they are giving up 114.7 points per game while opponents shoot 46.3 percent from the field. Anthony Davis is leading the team with 28.5 points and 13.1 rebounds per game while Jrue Holiday is adding 20.9 points and 8.0 assists per contest.
NBA Betting Trends
Oklahoma City
The Thunder are 5-1 against the spread in their last six road games and 8-1 ATS in their last nine on two days of rest.
New Orleans
The Pelicans have covered the spread in four straight following a double-digit loss at home and 5-2 ATS in their last seven Thursday games.
Prediction:
The Pelicans have covered in their last two meetings with the Thunder, including a game at OKC on Jan. 24. However, the Thunder are playing as well as anyone right now. Paul George and Russell Westbrook are putting together MVP-type campaigns and seemed to have really figured out how to best gel with one another on the court. The Pelicans seem to have given up, trading away one of their best players while Davis has made it clear his future isn’t in New Orleans. I like OKC to continue its hot streak and cover this small spread.
NBA Prediction: Oklahoma City -5
