Thunder on fire
Oklahoma City has won five straight and nine of its last 10 following a 121-106 win at Cleveland on Saturday. OKC is 20-15 on the season, 8-9 on the road, 23-12 against the spread and 20-15 with the under.
The Thunder are playing pretty well on defense, especially as of late. On the year they are giving up 107.1 points per game while holding opponents to 45.4 percent shooting. Over this win streak, they have held each opponents to 106 points or less. The Thunder are putting up 108.6 points per game on offense while shooting 46.6 percent as a team. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is leading the Thunder this season with 19.9 points and 5.3 rebounds per contest. Dennis Schroder is adding 18.5 points, 3.8 rebounds and 3.7 assists per contest.
Philly drops fourth straight
Philadelphia is on a four-game losing streak right now following a 118-108 loss at Houston on Friday. The losses move the 76ers to 23-14 on the season, 16-2 at home, 15-18-4 against the spread and 18-18-1 with the over/under total.
The 76ers are solid on defense this year, allowing 105.8 points per game while opponents shoot 45.7 percent from the field. Philadelphia is putting up 109.5 points per game on offense while shooting 47 percent from the floor. Joel Embiid is leading the Sixers this year with 23.6 points, 12.4 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game. Ben Simmons is adding 14.9 points, 7.3 rebounds and 8.6 assists per contest.
NBA Betting Trends
Oklahoma City
The Thunder are 7-1 against the spread in their last eight games as a road underdog and 10-3 ATS in their last 13 games against a winning team.
Philadelphia
The 76ers are 5-2-2 against the spread in their last nine home games, but 1-4-1 ATS in their last six games following a loss.
Prediction:
OKC earned an OT win over Philly at home back on Nov. 15. While I am not sure the Thunder will win outright tonight, I think they can definitely cover this big spread. The Thunder are really hitting their stride on defense and that is something Philly has been struggling with. Smart defensive teams are keeping Philly outside the paint and the 76ers haven’t been able to hit outside shots to win consistently. I expect the Thunder to take the same approach and ride their defense to keep this game close.
