Magic end skid
Orlando ended a three-game losing streak on Friday with a 132-118 win at Minnesota. Despite the recent losses, the Magic are 6-1 against the spread in their last seven. Orlando comes into this game 28-35 overall, 12-20 on the road, 29-32-2 against the spread and 31-29-3 with the over.
The Magic are one of the top defenses in the NBA, allowing just 107.2 points per game while opponents shoot 46.7 percent against them. Offensively, Orlando averages just 105.8 points per game while shooting only 44.1 percent as a team. Nikola Vucevic is leading the Magic this season with 19.6 points and 10.9 rebounds per game. Evan Fournier is adding 18.8 points per contest.
Rockets drop another
Houston suffered a 108-99 loss at Charlotte last night to push its losing streak to three games straight up and four games against the spread. The Rockets are now 39-23 on the season, 21-9 at home, 29-33 against the spread and 35-27 with the under.
The Rockets are putting up 118.3 points per game on offense this season while shooting 45.3 percent from the field as a team. On defense, Houston is giving up 114.2 points per game while opponents shoot 46.1 percent from the field. The Rockets are expecting to be without Eric Gordon again tonight due to a knee injury. Gordon averages 14.5 points per game. James Harden is leading the team with 34.5 points, 6.4 rebounds and 7.4 assists per contest. Russell Westbrook, who rested last night, averages 27.5 points, 8.1 rebounds and 7.0 assists per contest.
NBA Betting Trends
Orlando
The Magic are 14-6 against the spread in their last 20 games against the Rockets and 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games in March.
Houston
The Rockets have failed to cover in four straight overall and in five of their last six Sunday games.
Prediction:
Houston hasn’t looked good in recent games and now the Rockets are playing their third game in four days, traveling for each contest. While Westbrook is rested, Harden and company are not. Orlando is a team that likes to limit possessions and I think that will throw Houston off its game. The Magic have been showing their ability to compete in recent weeks, especially on the road. I think its defensive ability will allow them to keep this game close.
NBA Prediction: Orlando Magic +8
